Government expects economic recovery to pick up steam over the next two years but it’s critical that major construction projects get started and that both businesses and individuals start investing and spending again.

Minister in the ministry of finance Ryan Straughn, speaking to moderator David Ellis, on VOB’s Getting Down to Brass Tacks call-in program, said it’s vital that at least two thousand new jobs are created.

Meantime, Mr. Straughn says it’s now up to Sandals Resorts to determine whether or not they proceed with the Beaches project in St. Peter. The project has been stalled over a stalemate about the level of concessions required.
