50% reduction in revenue from the Garbage and Sewage Contribution tax

Minister of the Environment and National Beautification, Trevor Prescod, reports a 50% reduction in revenue from the Garbage and Sewage Contribution (GSC) tax that was added to water bills from last August to help fund the Sanitation Service Authority, including buying new garbage trucks.

He made the revelation this morning while speaking during an event where senior staff of the SSA assembled to applaud the garbage collection crews as heroes as they returned from their routes.

Mr. Prescod says money shortfall is affecting the SSA and joined Water Resources Minister in appealing to the public to pay their water bills.
